Woke up at 6:55 and couldn’t sleep anymore. So I got up, went downstairs and watched a bit of Lord of the Rings and other stuff on TV. At around 9 we finally had breakfast, then we went food shopping at the good ol’ Valley Mall and browsed through the shelves at Blockbuster.

We spent the rest of the day watching TV, in the afternoon I went outside for a while, enjoying the gorgeous sunny New Jersey weather and taking pictures of stuff.

Later we had Chinese food for dinner and watched the ending of Lord of the Rings (yeah, still running) and the rented ‘3:10 to Yuma’, which we thought had stupid characters. I actually had a hard time staying awake, probably the jet lag kicking in. So I went to bed at 10.

Woke up at 7, left the apartment at 9, arrived at DUS at 9:30, waited in line various times, suprisingly there was only one control, not 3 as it was 2 years ago. Long time later we were about to take off. But we didn’t, takeoff was aborted because of some warning, so we had to wait in the plane for an hour for the brakes to cool off. Then we finally took off, 9 hours and 2 incredibly cheesy movies later we approached our destination. It was so foggy outside, I didn’t even notice we were landing until the plane hit the ground.

I took the AirTrain to the Howard Beach Subway Station. The weather was ok besides the fog. Though my breath was rising in clouds, I wasn’t freezing. Anyway, i took the subway and about an hour later after a long ride through the suburbs and the realm of the molemen I arrived at Port Authority Bus Terminal, went upstairs to the South Wing entrance. Hmm, no aunt in sight, my texts didn’t arrive and the payphone at JFK kept telling me to please deposit 20/25/30/40/50 cents. Well, i bought a prepaid SIM and called the aunt, who rushed over from her office on 7th Ave and 5 minutes and a heart welcome later, we headed for the bus to NJ. After 10 minutes on the bus another 45 minute ride on the car followed. We got pizza and watched TV, and the 22-hour day ended at 10. Long journey.

Habe mich gestern mit der Lea und ihrem Freund in Köln getroffen und sehr viel Spaß gehabt Wir sind auf den Dom gegangen – OMG so viele Treppen! Das war echt tierisch anstrengend tausende von diesen engen Wendeltreppen hochzulatschen, ich hab auch tierisch Muskelkater davon heute. Da wir eh am Dom waren, waren wir noch in der Schatzkammer und haben uns komische katholische Dinge angeguckt.

Anschließend waren wir noch was essen, aber dann musste ich schon aufbrechen zum besten Konzert meines Lebens
